My name is Debra Brown and I've spent the last 30 years in retail management, sales and merchandising. That means a lot of hours on the job, making money for someone else. It means 5 days out of the week on the road and waking up in the morning wondering what town you are in. Oh the money was decent – bills were paid and I got to travel a little.

Christmas Eve 2006 I found myself in a hotel room in Charlotte, NC – all alone. My husband was in Chicago with our grown sons and grandchildren – celebrating Christmas. I had to work. It was then I thought that just maybe I was in the wrong profession. I spent the next six months thinking I needed to find a new job – I was tired of being on the road away from my family.

June 2007 my father had a heart attack and two strokes. He wasn't expected to live. I flew home to Iowa and told myself “if Dad makes it, we are moving back to Iowa and I will work from home.” Dad made it and we moved back to Iowa – down on the farm!
